The Jungfrau posters
The famous sledge ride pulled by polar dogs on the Jungfrau glacier, illustrated successively by W.F. Burger (creation 1914) and Emil Cardinaux (1925), revisited in the 1940s by Ed. Weber.
Emil Cardinaux's poster for the Jungfrau Railway (Jungfraubahn) celebrates the beauty of the Swiss landscape. Nature is highlighted and, contrary to appearances, humans are relegated to the background. On a sunny and cheerful day, the snow-covered mountain becomes the main subject. It is imposing, majestic, but not oppressive. The spectator does not admire it in the distance, but has the feeling of being at the very centre of the landscape, of being an integral part of this scene.

NewWinter sports in St.Moritz
Famous poster for the Palace Hotel in St.Moritz.
One of the masterpieces of the Swiss tourist poster designed in 1920 by Emil Cardinaux.
This very rare poster by Cardinaux catches an attitude, a lifestyle, an overall mood. A sophisticated and elegant woman looks at the viewer with a detached and indifferent glance while the other guests display a well-studied nonchalance at the edge of the Palace's ice rink. It is neither winter sports nor the legendary hotel in St. Moritz that are highlighted in the Cardinaux poster, but the very idea of luxury and refinement: the symbol of incomparable hospitality.
