This version is the proof before letter, without the small text at the top (Convair 880 the world's fastest jetliner). The Convair Company was bought by General Dynamics in 1954. The Convair 880 was produced as a faster, smaller jet airliner in competition with the Boeing 707 and Douglas DC-8. Only 65 Cv-880s were manufactured from 1959 to 1962. TWA and Delta Airlines were the primary U.S. customers for the Cv-880.
