Albert BRENET

1937

97 x 62 cm
38 x 24 inch
Extremely rare poster printed in stone-lithography for the "Aeromaritime, to the West coat of Africa, from Dakar in Senegal to Pointe Noire" in Congo. The Aeromaritime was founded in 1935 by the "Chargeurs Réunis", the "Compagnie Générale de navigation à vapeur Cyprien Fabre" and the "Compagnie Marseillaise de navigation à vapeur Fraissinet" to develop the air transport to Africa. The first flight to "Pointe noire" in Congo was the 17 mai 1937. The stopovers were Dakar, Conakry, Abidjan, Lomé, Cotonou, Douala, Port Gentil and Pointe Noire. Because of the absence of airfield, and small scope, the Aeromaritime was flying on Sikorsky S-43 seaplanes, as shown on this fabulous travel poster by Albert Brenet. A great design, highly collectable
