"Viandox en tous lieux... à toute heure".

Large enamelled plate for "Viandox, meat extract".

Originally a savoury sauce with a little flavoured meat extract, in soluble or liquid form, Viandox was developed according to a process originally invented by Justus von Liebig. Equivalent to the soluble meat extract OXO invented in 1899 for the British market, Viandox was launched in the early 1920s in France by the Compagnie française des produits Liebig.

Today, it is manufactured by Unilever, which markets it under the Knorr brand and no longer contains meat, contrary to its original recipe.
