Maraschino Luxardo, 1933
A slender green bottle crowned with a red top, dressed in a straw cloak and surrounded by marasca cherries is the star of this 1930s poster. Maraschino, a famous cherry-based spirit, was created in 1821 by Girolamo Luxardo in Zara, Dalmatia, Italy.
The bottle, whose shape has remained unchanged since 1821, is even today covered in hand-woven straw.
