Founded in 1930, the French aeronautical company STAR - Société de Transports Aériens Rapides - aimed to operate fast connections between Paris and other major French cities. In addition to an air taxi service between Paris and Cherbourg, it also offers a Paris - Geneva route in 2 hours 45 minutes.
Extracts published by the cercle aéronautique Louis Mouillard: ‘The Société de Transports Aériens Rapides (STAR) was created in May 1930 as a division of Société Nieuport-Delage, with Gustave Delage as managing director and Jean Denis of Air Union as chief pilot. Its goal was to provide on-demand air transport and fast connections between Paris and other French cities.'
Between June and September 1930, it acquired 7 Nieuport-Delage Nid-641s and 3 Fokker F.VIIa. Following several accidents, the company ceased its activities in August 1931. It was then taken over by ‘Air Union’.
