A magnificent avant-garde poster for a Zurich laundry. This design, created by Robert Hardmeyer in 1904, was initially printed in small size before being reproduced in Swiss size around ten years later. The radical new style of the cockerel in his freshly laundered shirt created a visual shock and revolutionised the history of advertising. The image even became the company logo for a century.
The design of this exceptional poster is one of the forerunners of the ‘SachPlakat’ style. Although a rooster is depicted, it has the unity of subject, the conciseness of the message and the highly graphic look that would come to characterise this school of advertising design.
A very beautiful lithograph collected by museums and prized by avant-garde collectors.
