The Compagnie Générale Transatlantique(C.G.T.) was France's most famous maritime company.
Created in 1855, it took its definitive name of C.G.T. in 1861. Its 483 ships carried millions of passengers around the world until 1975.
The C.G.T.'s most famous liners were the France in 1912, the Normandie, which entered service on 25 May 1935, illustrated by Paul Colin in this famous blue-white-red poster in 1949.
