From its beginning, SAS was promoting a hight quality service on board and the SAAB Scandia Aircraft was known as very comfortable. The Company was founded the 1st of August 1946 with the merge of four Scandinavian companies: two Sweden's carriers: ABA and SLA - Svensk Intercontinental Lufttraffik, the Norway's national carrir DNL - Det Norske Luftfartselskap and the Danish national carrier DDL - Danske Luftfartselskap AB. They formed the OSAS to fly the overseas routes from Scandinavia, the company was rapidly renamed SAS - Scandinavian Airlines System. also available in large size in English (A+0798).
