In 1875, in Vevey, Daniel Peter, son-in-law of François-Louis Cailler, invented milk chocolate. 'Chocolat Cailler' became one of the world's most famous brands, much appreciated by young princes, as this poster from the early 20th century suggests.

This image depicts the introduction of chocolate to the court of the Kings of France. Initially consumed as a hot drink, chocolate soon became extremely popular: Louis XIII and Louis XIV were crazy about it!
