In the 1920s, probably inspired by Cappiello, the French designer and poster artist M. Stéphane produced a magnificent Art Deco poster for the 3-star Cognac Briand brand.
Dressed in vine leaves and bunches of grapes, a nymph presents two bottles of cognac. The 3 stars that illuminate her headdress are the trademark of a cognac that has been aged for at least 2 years. (3 stars or VS - Very Special).
The colours used for the brand, the bunches of grapes and the bottles, in addition to the green of the vine leaves, highlight the warm golden tones of the cognac.
The Maison Briand was founded in 1835 in Grande Champagne region by Georges Briand. In 1870, he formed a partnership with Edgard Boutillier, who took over the management of the brand in 1920 with Robert Delaurière. The company changed its name to Boutillier Delaurière & Cie in 1922.
