Pyramids or bottomless pits?
In the 1970s, Geneva-based painter and sculptor Jean-François Vigny produced a series of silkscreen prints that play on variations of the same theme: a large square on its edge, with diagonals guiding the eye towards a smaller, darker square.
This geometric motif is featured in many of his works. The shapes and lines remain, only the colours change. Our perception of these volumes is different each time. Vigny plays with perspective and the different shades of colour that create zones of light and shadow.
