No human presence is visible in this poster by Anton Reckziegel for the Jungfrau Railway at the beginning of the 20th century. You can barely make out the train itself and the Eiger station in the background. Twelve years of work will be needed to bring the tunnel to the foot of the Jungfrau.
The mountain and its peaks, its strength and silence, together with the glacier in the foreground, compose this poster like an old sepia-toned canvas. Reckziegel has even designed the margins of the poster to look like a frame.
