Jean BAIER

circa 1970

Jean Baier's ‘Compositions’.

Jean Baier, a self-taught artist from Geneva, uses geometric shapes composed of large flat areas of colour to create tensions and visual fractures. He follows the principles of Neoplasticism theorised by Mondrian: no curves or obliques, just straight lines in pure colours. The work must not be symmetrical, but rather perfectly balanced.

Juxtapositions of sculptural forms, beautifully screen-printed.
