The younger brother of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, who was himself assassinated in Dallas in November 1963, Robert Kennedy was the frontrunner to become the Democratic Party's presidential candidate. He was assassinated in Los Angeles on the night of his victory in the California primary on 5 June 1968.
