Blue variation of the original poster (three variations were created: red - blue - black) for Andy Warhol's exhibition "The Americans Indian Series" commissioned by the Ace Gallery in Los Angeles in 1976 and 1977.

The portrait depicts Russell Means, an American Indian rights activist and member of the American Indian Movement. Warhol's portraits of Russell Means (18 in total) have become an emblem of the crises of contemporary America and the importance of its minorities.
