Original vintage poster Chemin de fer électrique Martigny - Châtelard - Chamonix

Wilhelm Friedrich BURGER (Willy)

circa 1925

Extremely rare Swiss poster for the "Electric Railway Company, Martigny Chatelard Chamonix". From Martigny through Vernayaz - Salvan - Finhaut the train arrived in "Le Châtelard" for the first time in 1906. In 1908 the track crossed the French Border to Valorcine and Chamonix. A beautifull mountain poster signed "B", often attributed to Otto Baumberger. It is probably wrong, "B" remain unknown, but for sure he was a great artist and colourist. This poster was beautifuly printed in stone-lithography by Fiedler in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
