A writer, graphic artist, illustrator, film-maker and photographer, Samivel, whose real name was Paul Gayet-Tancrède, became famous for his mountain watercolours. His pseudonym ‘Samivel’ is taken from the character of Sam Weller in Dickens' ‘The Adventures of Mr Pickwick’.
