Built at the very beginning of 1931 by the Scotoni family of entrepreneurs and thanks to the plans of the Vaudois architect Alphonse Laverrière, the Bel-Air Métropole Tower was the source of various controversies from the very beginning of its construction. Both a symbol of modernism and a certain amount of Americanism, it goes without saying that the skyscrapers of the United States influenced its construction. Just as much as art deco, the period during which it was born. This was the first Swiss skyscraper and the building attracted the attention of the great artists and thinkers of its time thanks to its refined and immense structure. The Tower was designed to accommodate offices and housing as well as public spaces such as a cinema, a theatre, a restaurant and shops. This rare poster was made and presented at its inauguration, highlighting the grandeur of the monument and its artistic potential in the manner of a Hollywood film.
The building of this tower of 52 meters stir up controversy. The opponents were arguing that this tower will compete with the Cathedral! The opening was finally the December 27th 1931.
