Sylvie, also known as Louise Sylvie, was a French actress.
Born Louise Pauline Mainguené (1883-1970), Sylvie had a major theatrical career in France, as well as numerous film roles. She worked with some of the biggest names in French cinema, including Duvivier, L'Herbier, Chenal, Bresson, Carné and Clouzot ("Le Corbeau", 1943). In 1965, she won the award for best actress of the year for her role in "La vieille dame indigne" ("The shameless old lady", a film by René Allio), a prize awarded by the American organisation "National Society of Film Critics".
