The "Salon des Cent" was a venue welcoming exhibitions that would gather most of the painters, cartoonists, writers and poets of the late 19th century Paris. The 31 of the Rue Bonaparte was sheltering the literary review "La Plume" and, on a regular basis, was used as a gallery for this "Salon" of the avant-garde. Cazals, the author of this poster, portrays writer Jean Moréas in the background and, in front, his friend the outstandingly famous poet Paul Verlaine having a close look at the exhibition.
