Chambéry - Dolin, circa 1930
A typical Alpine spirit made from plants, flowers and spices macerated in white wine, the vermouth (spelt without -h- at the time) is the speciality of the Dolin distillery, founded in 1821. Considered to be the oldest vermouth in France, Chambéry-Dolin received its appellation d'origine ‘Vermouth de Chambéry’ on 10 March 1928.
Created by poster artist Marcel Juseret alias Cello, this magnificent 1930s poster depicts the Lac du Bourget (also known as the Lac d'Aix-les-Bains), near Chambéry. Produced by the Imprimerie Générale in Grenoble, this lithograph in horizontal large size (160 x 120 cm) is an outstanding piece.
