Gabriel-Edouard Haberjahn was a Swiss artist of Norwegian origin, born in Yverdon on 4 November 1890.

A student at the Ecole des Arts Industriels in Geneva in 1905, he continued his studies in Paris from 1913. On his return to Switzerland, he produced decorative works (theatre, landscapes, etc.) and taught decorative painting, photography, engraving and lithography. Haberjahn was appointed Dean of the Ecole des Beaux Arts, the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs and the Ecole Normale de Dessin in 1942.

In 1927, he designed the sets for the play Pestalozzi, created for the 100th anniversary of the pedagogue's death, a poster (portrait of Pestalozzi) and a woodcut depicting Pestalozzi and children. In 1930 he became a member of the commission of the Museum of Arts and History and a member of numerous cantonal and federal juries.

He travelled extensively in Italy and Provence, and was particularly fond of Paris and the Valais, especially Champéry.

He died in Geneva in May 1956.
