La maison Vautier & Cie est fondée en 1832 à Grandson. Elle ouvre l’usine d’Yverdon vers 1858 et devient rapidement l’une des deux principales manufactures de tabac du canton. A l’origine, elle produit du tabac à pipe et du tabac à priser.
