Turn of the 19th century poster for the "fast and luxury trains" between Paris (Gare d'Austerlitz) and Bordeaux. Journey time 8.5 hours by the Chemins de fer Paris à Orléans.
The south-west of France is the featured region on this poster, from the city of Bordeaux to the castle of Pau overlooking the Gave de Pau, a river that rises in the Pyrenees.
The city of Bordeaux is shown at the top of the poster with its port on the Garonne as it appeared at the time - Bordeaux was then one of the most important ports in Europe. The Colonnes Rostrales near the Quinconces esplanade, the spire of the Basilique Saint-Michel and the Cathédrale Saint-André are also shown.
The PO 350 locomotive was built by the SACM in Mulhouse in 1877. It was later sold to the Chemins de fer de l'Etat français (French State Railway Network).
