THE extremely rare original poster from the Gugus magazine "Midnight October 7th 1910, Sirs... it's time ! The end of the Green Fairy, Absinthe prohibition in Switzerland" >>> The 5th of July 1908, a referendum for the prohibition of the Absinthe was accepted by the Swiss population. The prohibition begans the 7th of October 1910 at midnight. The priest is showing the jour "J", a foot on the stabbed Green Fairy (the nick-name of the absinthe). The dagger is the "Blue Cross" of the anti-alcoholic society. In the back the 3 lengendary Swiss warriors are doing their promise over "1921" (date of the foundation of Switzerland) At the right a very very old "Helvetia women" is sitting over "1910". This image was firstly printed in black and white in the "Gugus" a satyric magazine from Geneva. To repond to the great success of this image, a poster was printed during the campaign. It is one of them, extremely rare. A museum piece, highly collectable
