LE CORBUSIER (Charles-Édouard JEANNERET)

(1887 – 1965)

Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris dit Le Corbusier is a Swiss architect, decorator, designer, sculptor, painter, urban planner and writer naturalised French.
Le Corbusier's work is not limited to his architectural achievements, but covers the whole spectrum of the artistic creation. He designed furniture, produced drawings (between October 1902 and May 1965, Le Corbusier produced several thousand drawings, often of rare beauty), collages and lithographs. He also created tapestries, which he called "Muralnomad", the "mural" of modern times.
In 1965, the year of his accidental death, Le Corbusier said: "Drawing is also a game. [...] I've always drawn. Landscapes, architecture, glasses and bottles for bars, shells, stones, butcher's bones, pebbles, little women, bestiary, these are the steps, the keys..."
