General Dynamics - Atomo per la pace

General Dynamics - Atomo per la pace

General Dynamics - Atomo per la pace

"Atomo per la pace". A General Dynamic poster by Erik Nitsche. This company was founded in 1952 with the merge of "Electric Boat" and "Canadair Ltd" and build the first nuclear-powered submarine, the famous USS Nautilus The company has different activities in the scientific research, such as atomic energy, electricity, electronic intelligence or space dynamics. They were producing aircraft, boats and submarine, medical instrument against cancer etc. Eric Nitsche, as Art director, designed in 1955, 1958 and 1960 the famous three set for the General Dynamics. Unfortunately the exact date of each poster is not known. Personally we consider that the set «Atom for peace» is the first one, created in 1955 to promote the pacific use of the atomic energy. «Exploring the universe» is the second set designed in 1958 to show the research activities of the company . And the third one about «Energy and industrial subjects» was printed in 1960. Anyway it is not so important, they were all created between 1955 and 1960. They are now in museum collections and are prized by avant-garde collectors. The complete collection is very rare and hard to built.
